Twitter: A threat to a fading media paradigm

Sally Morrell (Mrs Andrew Bolt) on... The sad little world of twitter

What a cockatoo thinks:

I use twitter as a source of amusement. I follow comedians and entertainers whose jokes I like, and sometimes attend their shows or buy their DVDs if they are consistently to my liking. A symbiotic relationship, similar to podcasting.

I use it as a source of direct immediate access to news and professional networks worldwide, free from the restrictions of paper publishing and as a notification method for articles by short and long form journalists I respect.

I have found my experience and enjoyment augmented by a twitter stream in areas ranging from attending a political protest to live radio and television.

When I read a newspaper, I must sort through a lot of chaff to find a little wheat. The same applies to twitter. This is a skill that grows with practice.

I choose to add my little voice to the chorus at times. Not many will hear it. I don't care. Any fool can write a letter to the editor.

Or an opinion piece.
